The Kite Festival would not happen without the generous donation of time and talent by volunteers. Our volunteers enjoy a fun afternoon in the park and at the same time, help raise funds to stop the cycle of child abuse by helping us make the Kite Festival run smoothly. 200 to 400 volunteers are scheduled for the event in 2 hour shifts. We welcome individuals or groups of volunteers. There are plenty of activities for both.
Volunteer tasks are easy and can be learned within a few minutes. Volunteers help set up in the morning, during the event they help sell concessions and T-Shirts, register folks for the contest, deliver supplies, act as moonwalk and rock wall spotters, assist at the Kite making workshop tent and help us take down and load up in the evening (We especially appreciate help in the last shifts of the day).
Exchange Club members assist volunteers and are on site to train and answer questions during the event. We have some special tasks prepared for groups of younger volunteers. Due to the nature of the event and our limited staff numbers, we ask that volunteers younger than 15 be accompanied by a parent, guardian or sponsor at all times. If needed, documentation for volunteer service time can be supplied by event organizers.
Volunteers receive free reserved parking in the park and free shuttle rides if they use the shuttles. We send out reminders and specific volunteer information the week before the event. We hope our volunteers invite their friends and family along to enjoy ‘Kite Day’.
We use Volunteer Spot to schedule volunteers. If you’d like to sign up to volunteer, click the button below. Many thanks!
